Não posso estar nas Correntes d’Escritas. Mas posso ir para a India

February 11, 2009

The inspector pointed his cane straight at me. “You, young man, are an intelligent, honest, vivacious fellow in this crowd of thugs and idiots. In any jungle, what is the rarest of animals — the creature that comes along only once in a generation?”

I thought about it and said:

“The white tiger.”

“Thats what you are, in this jungle.”

Aravind Adiga in The White Tiger. London: Atlantic Books

O vencedor do Man Booker Prize 2008, The White Tiger, de Aravind Adiga, veio parar-me à caixa do correio gratuitamente, graças ao momento Wook (lembram-se?). E agora, depois de despachar o Stieg Larsson, viajo para a India, à proa de um romance que para já não me agarrou. A versão portuguesa do livro vai ser lançada pela Presença. Só resta saber quando.
